Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was raised in a mixed ethnic family. She has a mother who is English while her father is Nigerian. She grew up in the south of a London council estate, and went to The Brit School at age fourteen. She earned her BA in acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. During her time at the academy, she appeared in several performances on stage, such as the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe's acting career began with Storm Damage. Since then, she has appeared as a guest in Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film was that of the Woody Allen 2007 film Cassandra's Dream. She starred with Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. Following that, she played Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally she appeared in Trexx as Ollie as well as six episodes of Flipside. In the ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl saw her in 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe was a part of the 2008 Comedy film How to Lose Friends & Get People to Leave. She was also in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path which was written by David Watson.
Madekwe was a part of Ashley Davenport for ABC's drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode series aired for just 2 weeks at The CW and then it ended. The actress was selected in February 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. In late May 2013, it was announced that Madekwe, who had played a regular role in the two previous seasons, was to leave the series after a guest-appearance in the premier episode of the season's new episode. The actress played Tituba in the program Salem from 2014 to 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. In addition to Secret Diary of a Call Girl they also appeared in tandem on Salem and he had a part alongside her in the show on TV.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into a large, extended family. Her parents, Roy and Patty and the four brothers of her, Brett, Todd, and Bram who were also present. Ashley's siblings, who are all athletic, played baseball in summers and played hockey in winters. Ashley did not have the ability to walk. She would dance. So when she was 2 and a 1/2, she joined Baby Ballet. Ashley began to develop a love of dancing after she started Baby Ballet. Ashley competed in tap, jazz and ballet in high divisions. She was crowned the top soloist awards at all of the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
