It was a combination of pop and reggaeton that attracted attention to Latin music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mainly in Spanish in 2016, compared to just two songs in 2015. In 2017, during the height of popularity for Despacito 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish have made it into the Billboard Top 100. In 2020, there will be 41 hits that fall into this category. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018) and Madonna teamed up with Maluma on Medellin in the year 2019. Reggaeton's mainstreaming was an issue for certain performers by the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. He used elements from other styles and electronic music.
